IV Therapy & NAD+
Vitamin and NAD+ intravenous infusions are among the most heavily marketed offerings at wellness clinics in Phuket — and among the most expensive. Here is what the evidence actually says.
What it is
IV Therapy is the direct delivery of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, or NAD+ into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. Providers claim 100% bioavailability compared with oral supplementation.
Common formulations in Phuket: Myers Cocktail (vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium), NAD+ drip, glutathione push. Available at BDMS Wellness Clinic (Bangkok Hospital Phuket), Lyfe Medical Wellness (Rawai), and STAY Wellbeing Resort.
What the evidence actually says
Myers Cocktail & general IV vitamins
- ✗ No RCT evidence
- No rigorous RCT has demonstrated that IV vitamins outperform oral supplementation in healthy adults. Providers cite personal reports of improved energy and immunity — that is not evidence.
NAD+ IV specifically
- ✗ No outcomes trial — not a single one
- NPR reported in May 2026: “There are no eligible outcomes trials evaluating IV or IM NAD+ itself for anti-aging or wellness indications. There's almost no published data on IV infusions, despite wellness clinics charging $200–$1,000+ per session.”
- ⚠ What does have evidence
- Oral NAD+ precursors (NR, NMN) do have stronger evidence than IV form — a distinction providers rarely mention.

Who may benefit · what to be aware of
May be appropriate for
- — People with a diagnosed nutritional deficiency (not everyone)
- — After serious illness or surgery requiring rapid rehydration — though that should be done in a hospital, not a wellness clinic
Risks to know
- — IV administration carries small but real risks: infection, phlebitis, allergic reaction
- — Should only be done in a supervised medical setting, not a spa or general wellness studio
- — If NAD+ genuinely interests you: oral precursors (NR, NMN) have better evidence and are considerably less expensive
What we do not yet know
- — Long-term effects of repeated NAD+ IV — no research exists
- — Confirmed NAD+ IV pricing in Phuket beyond BDMS — we have no verified data
- — What distinguishes people who benefit from those who do not — insufficient data
This information comes from the sources cited. It is not medical advice. IV therapy should be carried out under the supervision of a licensed physician.
